So for G.I. Joe: Retaliation, we found ourselves in the bayous of New Orleans to make a film that took place everywhere else in the world, except Louisiana! The film takes place all over the world- the mountains of the Himalayas, a Nepal monastery, a missile silo in Pakistan, a high rise dojo in Japan, an underground prison in Germany, the streets of Washington, DC, and a fort in South Carolina. Since nothing in and around New Orleans fit the bill, we certainly had our work cut out for us. We were able to build a lot of our sets in a huge NASA facility outside of town that we used not only as a stage space, but also part of it as our missile silo. It was 10 months of crazy fast construction, intense heat, and a lot of fun. We had a fantastic team of people to pull it all off. Here are some set pictures and a few Sketchup models and renders of some of the sets that I worked on.
