Creating Wakanda...
From the very beginning, we knew this would be an interesting and challenging project. Starting with trying to envision the fictional African country of Wakanda; a country that had never been colonzed and was the most advanced country on earth. They had technology that was hundreds of years more advanced than today’s, yet still also reflected all of the culture and history of the African continent and location. It was a great oppurtunity and quite daunting at the same time.We were going to be filming in Atlanta, GA for the most part but also intended to shoot in Africa as well. But due to budget constraints, the hard choice was made to film the entire movie in Atlanta except for some second unit car chase wrok in Busan, South Korea. Luckily, we had a fantastic team of people in our art department and we were able to design and build some of the most fun sets of my career so far.
